When my client, a hardworking mom of 9-month-old twins, came to me, she was feeling stuck. Her three-story townhome didn’t feel like the inviting space she wanted. It lacked style, storage was a mess, and a few DIY attempts hadn’t quite hit the mark. On top of that, the space wasn’t safe enough for her little ones, and she didn’t feel confident hosting guests because of the awkward layout and lack of seating.
She dreamed of a home where she could host big gatherings with friends and family, but also one where she could spend time playing with her twins without tripping over clutter. She wanted a space that felt cozy, functional, and like her.
The biggest hurdle? The home’s long, narrow living, dining, and kitchen layout. It wasn’t an easy space to work with! Plus, with twins crawling around, everything had to be safe and practical. And of course, we needed to create enough seating for her to comfortably host large groups—without making the space feel cramped.
To bring her vision to life, I designed a built-in bookcase feature wall that added character while hiding toys and other clutter. I included nesting tables that could double as activity tables for the twins, with nearby storage for quick and easy clean-up. We added a cozy sectional and accent chairs to create plenty of seating, and a landing zone near the stairs with a storage bench and a small table—perfect for guests to relax or for her to grab a quick moment on her laptop. Warm textures and personal touches brought it all together to make the space feel like home.
When she saw the finished space, she literally jumped for joy! She said it exceeded all her hopes and couldn’t wait to invite friends over. Now, her home is a perfect mix of style and function—great for hosting, playing with her twins, and just enjoying everyday life.
It was so rewarding to see her excitement and to know that her space will finally feel like the home she’d been dreaming of. Sometimes, a little thoughtful design can truly change everything!
The space previously lacked storage, functionality, and aesthetic balance, leaving the client feeling uncertain about child safety and hosting larger gatherings.
Careful planning maximized functionality and made the most of a modest floorplan. Every square inch was carefully planned with entertaining and daily family life in mind.
The client desired a cozy, inviting atmosphere, so the design was warmed up with thoughtful touches. By creating a focal point with a feature wall bookcase, symmetry and balance return to the space and incorporate both concealed storage as well as display areas.
A functional landing zone near the stairwell of this three-story townhouse was designed with practicality and style in mind. The bench seating features built-in drawer storage, and a compact cocktail table creates a versatile spot to set down a morning coffee or perch a laptop for a quick work form home moment. This area serves as both a resting place and a vantage point, ideal for parenting.
Ample seating and a console adjacent to the dining table were added to enhance functionality and provide an ideal setup for entertaining.

The cost of an initial consultation varies depending on the location and scope of the project. I offer a free 30-minute phone consultation to discuss the project and provide an estimate.
We start with a quick introductory call to talk about your needs. Usually, this involves the scope of work you are looking to have done and what your project budget will be. It's also a good time to get to know each other and ask any questions you may have.
I studied Interior Design and Interior Architecture at UC Berkley and am a member of the ASID.
I've always been creative and enjoy drawing, painting, photography, architecture, and the arts. Growing up in California as a European immigrant I gained an appreciation for the juxtaposition between old and new, trendy and timeless. I started off decorating spaces for friends and family after being identified as "the stylish one" shortly after college. Later on, I flipped my first rental property and experienced the joy of seeing my tenants thrive as a result of the hard work and choices I had made. That feeling was the calling I had been waiting for.
I've worked with all kinds of customers of various backgrounds and ages. The diversity of people I can help in this field is what brings me the greatest joy.
A designer's number one job is communication. Design is a very personal process and you want to find a designer that you can communicate with openly, that understands you. A good designer also should have naturally heightened visual perception and reasoning (which can't be learned, it's an innate talent). If a designer can't quickly produce a sketch of their ideas it's a red flag.
What is your budget? What work would you like to have done? What would you like to use your space for? Who will be using it? What do you like and what do you not like about your space? When would you like the work completed? A lot of advice out there will tell you that you need to "discover your design style", however if you're working with a good designer this is not something you need to figure out on your own. Think about the more pragmatic questions and challenges you've been having in your space. Designers are here to offer you real world solutions as well as to help you express your style and personality.
